When we moved into our new house at the end of February I was most excited about the space, it’s more than double the size of our previous place and it’s really been life changing. It’s also been quite over whelming when it comes to decorating. I’ve never had such large rooms to design and combined with our mish mash of furniture it’s really been a challenge for me. So, for the most part I haven’t done much! When Havenly reached out about helping with one of the rooms I knew right away what space I needed expert help with and that was my office.

Havenly is an online decorating service like none I’ve seen before. They have an amazing online portal in which you fill out information on the room(s) you’d like to be designed, share your inspirational images, upload photos of your current products, set your budget and more. They then pair you with an interior designer and you work back and forth through the portal to approve design ideas and give your feedback on products. It’s been so fun to work on my office with my designer, Shelby! I’ve never worked with an interior designer before and totally get why people do now. I’m so indecisive if paralyzes me when it comes to making design decisions and it’s so nice to see a fresh perspective on how to use the same old art, furniture and decor I’ve been toting around for years.

My office is right off the front entryway to our house and is a throughway to the sitting room/kitchen. There is one door I can shut but a large open doorway on the other wall and figuring out a design that utilized this space in a functional way was really hard for me. I wanted to be able to use it as an office, have ample storage but still have a room that was pleasing to the eye since people will be walking through it all the time. I wanted a neutral space that had some color and a clean feel since I do a lot of shoots in the space and of course I wanted it to leave me inspired!
Shelby came up with a plan that blew me away and I never would have thought of on my own — utilizing mostly furniture that I already have. So, I thought I’d start by sharing some of the inspiration images that I gave to Shelby and then show you the two design renderings she came up with that we’ve been working from.

And here are the two different design options Shelby presented me with!
This one had a little too much color going on for me – but I liked the idea of painting my bentwood chair, and bringing coral into the room.
This rendering is much more of had in mind and was the basis for the design of the room. I love all of the neutrals and the textures. I like that Shelby had me push my 2 filing cabinets together to create a console area, added some open shelving and got a new round white table to use as a desk and meeting spot. I can’t wait to show you the before and after soon! Right now we are in the install phase and still have a lot of styling to do.
