Pipers Monthly Update

Hi, hello! What a wonderful two weeks off …as long as I’ve had a “real job” I’ve had the time off between Christmas and New Years – I am so grateful for this and feel pretty spoiled! I only wish I could say the same about Austin, we missed him a lot over the holidays due to his work and grad school schedule, but we know it will be worth it when he’s all done soon.  It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year and the only time it seems everyone in my industry is off, emails are far and few between and it just feels so nice to be able to relax and know that I’m not missing anything. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and I’m so excited for what 2016 has in store! December was quite a month for us, between our vacation in Florida, a trip to see my in-laws in Ohio and (sadly) a funeral in Illinois we were traveling a lot — and needless to say I missed Piper’s 5 month update!

PIPER MONTHLY UPDATEPiper has changed so much the past few weeks — she seems to be growing like crazy (we haven’t been to the doctor in over a month) but her clothes are getting tighter by the day. Her hair is finally growing! She’s on the move, you can’t lay her on a blanket without her moving all over the floor – she gets to where she wants to be by rolling and we are just waiting for her to start crawling! Her personality has really developed and we love our curious, smiley, fearless little gal.

PIPER ROSE MONTHLY UPDATE

WEIGHT & LENGTH: We had a visit to the doctor the second week of December and Piper was just shy of 13lbs, I think she must be close to 15lbs by now. She’s wearing 3-6 month, 6 month sleepers and some 9 month leggings.

SLEEPING: Oh boy, Piper’s sleep schedule is still a little out of wack due to our crazy travel + the holidays at my parents. She still has 2-3 naps a day and has been having trouble going to bed…. again. But generally she’s asleep by 8 or 9pm and wakes up once or twice 50% of the time. We are getting back to our routine…hopefully. We have the Nuna Travel Crib in our room right now because she’s been having such trouble and we have all been sick and some nights mama just needed to sleeeeep.

FEEDING: Piper’s feeding schedule is pretty routine at this point — she eats every time she wakes up from a nap, we do a 5-6oz bottle before bed and I pump after my first feed and before bed. We are going to introduce solids this week and I’m so excited and nervous! We still think Piper has some amount of  dairy allergy and I’ve still been off soy & dairy. Hopefully she’s growing out of this, and we’ll be able to tell when she tries dairy.

DEVELOPMENT: So alert, never wants to miss a thing. Piper just recently started showing signs of ‘stranger danger’ and having a preference to mama when she’s upset. Most days Piper’s a happy baby and only fussy when she needs something. We recently got a jumperoo which she LOVES – she loves to bounce on our laps too. She’s very interested in all of her toys — with a preference to those that make noise.

WHAT WE ARE LOVING RIGHT NOW:

TOYSThis elephant is her very favorite (it has great sensory features & is interactive) and she’s also pretty obsessed with her CELL PHONE that she was given for Christmas !! She loves this rattle . We moved all of Piper’s stuff into a playroom and covered half of the floor with foam mats. We love our Chewable Charm necklaces — especially when I’m wearing Piper around the house.

PERSONAL CARE: Piper recently had her first cold and I tried our Nose Frida  — it definitely lives up to the hype after you get over the initial reaction of how it works. I also really love their nail file  but am still too scared to use the clippers on Piper’s nails! Piper’s wearing Honest diapers during the day and Pamper’s Swaddlers at night — and after trying just about every wipe on the market my favorites are Huggie’s Natural Care Wipes

GADGETS: We got the Beaba Pro Baby Food Maker for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it to make Piper’s food! It steams, warms and purees food all in one. We still use the Nuna Leaf seat on a daily basis and I use my Solly Wrap around the house and our Ergo for when I run errands with Piper (like grocery shopping when I need a cart).
