 The Rising Tide Society

The past few weeks I’ve been quietly working along side Natalie Franke & Krista Jones on their latest venture… The Rising Tide Society. I’m so honored and humbled to be included in this journey of theirs. The Rising Tide Society is a place which fosters community over competition and gives creative entrepreneurs a place to grow, learn and inspire each other. The first inititiative for Rising Tide Society is #TuesdaysTogether in which small groups around the world (yes, the world!!) are meeting once a month to converse over coffee. These conversations are informal — and while there is a monthly topic to discuss there’s also lots of time for socializing and getting to know and learn from your local peers.

community over competition

I’m excited about TuesdaysTogether for two reasons. It can be really isolating to work for yourself, I’ve been doing it for over 3 years now – and while I’d never complain about my situation (I spend my days and nights truly working on projects that I love, which makes none of this work to me) at times it gets really lonely. I have a team of people I work with online every day but it’s not the same as having an actual conversation with someone! Knowing there is a whole community of other people in the same situation right around the corner from me is so refreshing — and to be able to get to know them, feel supported by them and be a part of something bigger than my own little office is such a wonderful feeling.

I’m also so excited to learn! The past year I’ve really tried to dedicate time to education, pushing myself to never stop learning and Rising Tide Society is going to be the perfect place to foster that feeling. We just launched the Rising Tide Society blog which will have fresh content every week – business tips, tricks and advice and insight from leading creative entrepreneurs across the country!

The whole premise for the Rising Tide Society really hits home for me too. Starting a new business, and just being a part of the blogging world for the past 7 years can feel really competitive. I’ll admit I spend way too much time gazing on Instagram and Pinterest feeling jealous and competitive over other people’s images and accounts. This time and energy is just draining me of my own productivity and creativity. I’m so happy to enter a new community whose entire goal is to eliminate competition and create a positive place for entrepreneurs!
