Summer reading is my very favorite! It’s the only time of the year where I’ll plow through several books and always wish I’d make this enthusiasm last throughout the year! Here are the books I’m on the waitlist for at the library or am planning to purchase this summer. This year I kept it realistic with only 6 titles. I’m almost done with 2 of them!
The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy: A captivating, honest and raw memoir by New York City based writer, Ariel Levy who loses her baby and spouse. I couldn’t put this book down.
Commonwealth by Ann Patchett: I’m nearly done this novel by Ann Patchett who is one of my favorite authors. This complicated, layered story covers five decades of the intertwined lives of the Keating and Cousin families.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman: “Smart, warm, uplifting, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is the story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .” — and soon to be a motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon
The Assistants by Camille Perri: I was an executive assistant (Devil Wears Prada style….) in New York City so you bet this book is at the top of my list!
Marlena: A Novel by Julie Buntin: “The story of two girls and the wild year that will cost one her life, and define the other’s for decades.”
Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy by Cheryl Sandberg: A follow up to the hugely successful, Lean In (which I never read) following the sudden death of her husband.
