2015 Goals & Resolutions

Jan

I love starting a fresh year, typically I get the post-holiday blues for a bit, but this year I’m so excited about all the changes coming our way that I couldn’t wait to turn the page to 2015. On January 1st I always try to pen a few resolutions and goals. As we were cleaning on New Year’s Day I ironically found my 2014 goals and have to say I met several of them and a few are sticking around another year. Today I thought I’d share them.

1. I’m sure a lot of people (bloggers especially) have this goal but I hope to spend more time offline in 2015, especially during the precious first few months with our baby. My problem is even when I’m relaxing I like to be online – browsing Pinterest, reading blogs, getting inspired. This year I am excited to dive into more Podcasts (Right now I’m hooked on Cherry Bombe and The Startup and I loved Serial) and get back into baking. I’d also like to spend more time outside, using our new kayaks, taking spontaneous trips to the beach, going for bike rides and walking Sully daily.

2. Create my own family traditions. Again this is even more important to me now that Austin and I will be a family of 3! I love the traditions I have with my immediate family and I want to focus on creating new traditions for my own little family too, even before the baby is here.

3. Make a valiant effort to keep our house more clean and tidy. Tidy is the key word, since I work from home things get a little unruly in here by Tuesday night and for the sake of my marriage I need to really work on keeping my “stuff” organized! I’d like to stay more organized in many areas of my life this year as well… and spend my work hours more efficiently, working less but producing better results. I’m going to start by browsing through Meg’s GSD column

4. Be more social and strengthen my friendships. Working from home has it’s perks but I frequently find myself feeling like a recluse, because I constantly feel overwhelmed, working at Glitter Guide, starting Kruse & Vieira Events and trying to maintain this blog that I often neglect to seek out and make time for friends. This is something major I want to change in 2015. I also want to start having more dinner parties and girls nights.

5. Be a more thoughtful and positive person. Find time to send snail mail. Spend more quality time with Austin and make him feel more appreciated.
