Now that it’s finally starting to feel like Fall around here and the cozy knits and ankle booties have come out it’s time to switch to a cool weather skincare routine. If you don’t change your routine seasonally you should start now! To get my skin ready for the cold, dry months ahead I stick with a few easy tricks.
- Hydrate, hydrate hydrate. Drink as much water as you can to hydrate your skin from within. I use a large water bottle which makes it easy to track how much I’ve had in a day — but also rely on cans of sparkling water, seltzer and infused water to make it a little easier. I start my day with a big glass of water before I even have my coffee to get the hydration goin’!
2. Exfoliate. It may seem counter productive to exfoliate dry, fragile skin (especially on your face) but it’s so important in keeping it well hydrated. I use a pumice stone on my feet, an exfoliating sponge for my face (I like this one) and then use a sugar or salt scrub at least 3x a week in the shower for my body.
3. Moisturize! And this is a no brainer, but it’s important to use a hydrating lotion on your whole body as soon as you get out of the shower to lock in the moisture. Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Spray Moisturizer makes it so easy to quickly spray and rub when you’re running low on time (I always skip this step if I’m in a rush!) as it dries very quick. And since it has 2x the moisturizing power it will keep your skin feeling supple all day. It’s unscented and non-greasy so it absorbs well into your skin.
