Healthy Habits

After being in our house for 5 days and eating pretty much whatever I felt like during that time (think – way too many bags of chips) it’s really time to ‘kick off’ my healthy habits for the new year. Instead of making unattainable resolutions I’ve decided to keep it simple.

  1. Drink way more water. I was really good about this while pregnant but it’s just as important now since I’m breastfeeding. I’m going to order this absurd water bottle to tote around the house with me. It comes with a straw and will keep drinks cold for a long time. I also need to start using my Soda Stream again — and keep up my Lacroix habit! Having a cup of water before my coffee, or hot water with lemon is also a good way to start the day.
  2. Take daily vitamins. Again, I was so good about this while I was pregnant and have totally stopped. I always forget. I’ve partnered with Vitafusion this year as a brand ambassador and just started taking their gummy vitamins. So easy and they actually taste good. The key for me is taking them at the same time every day.
  3. Eat several cups of greens every.single.day. If it’s not in a green smoothie in the morning — make sure I have salads with lunch and dinner. I’m talking dark, leafy greens like spinach & kale. No matter how the day ends up (frozen pizza for dinner….waffles for breakast?) at least I’ll know I had several servings of greens.
  4. Substitute crackers/pretzel snacks for fruits & vegetables. This may seem a little obvious but I’ve been eating far too many simple carbs for snacks (and I eat a lot of them throughout the day) so I want to make it a goal to have our fridge stocked with easy snacking vegetables, hummus, apple slices, grapes or frozen fruit ready for smoothies.
