My boyfriend doesn’t quite understand my obsession with bar carts (I currently have 2) and doesn’t think they are a necessary piece of furniture for our small house. I strongly disagree! Not only does a bar cart display beautiful glasses and bar accessories but it’s practical for entertaining in different areas of your home. I’m in the process of re-decorating my cart right now, but thought I’d share a few tips on how to easily style up a cart that will leave all your friends envious! Don’t have a bar cart? Check out this post to see a few different areas in your home that can also act as a bar.
1. Decide on a color palette. As with any part of decorating, I always suggest picking a few main colors to work with and then add in other accents. Since a bar is such a small area, this tactic is especially important! Remember, you don’t have to display all your liquor bottles + glasses — just your favorites that adhere to you color theme. Here I used hot pink, orange, black and gold.
2. Use the top surface to display. If you’re entertaining, use this area to display the drink supplies you’re serving — if your cart isn’t being used have fun with your favorite glasses and decorative accents. Accents I always try to include: art, fresh flowers, coasters, printed napkins, straws, cocktail books, quirky bottle stoppers and an ice bucket!
3. Use trays and bowls to corral your different elements to keep your cart from looking too busy. I love using acrylic for this purpose.
