Everyday Basics For Summer

It’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner — after a very wet spring we are finally seeing warm, sunny days in Maryland! With the change of seasons I always look to streamline my life in different ways and create new routines… since we just moved I’m still in the process of doing a major purge of clothing, beauty, decor and more. It’s made me think really hard about what I keep and what I use and I keep gravitating back toward simple basics — with both my wardrobe and skincare. 

Less is more when it comes to skincare for me. When I recently discovered their Gentle Basics line I was excited to try it out. So many natural beauty brands are very expensive and I know not attainable for everyone — so I’m happy to have found a natural line that doesn’t break the bank and also works GREAT! I love that there are minimal ingredients in the Gentle Basics line, that’s really gentle on your skin but also does the job of cleaning and hydrating — all without harsh chemicals. 

I’ve been trying to embrace the ‘capsule wardrobe’ mentality with my closet and now that my closet in our new house is half the size I’m almost forced to! This summer I’m stocking up on a few new basic pieces that I can dress up or down and pair with my stand-by essentials: cognac sandals, a French market tote and a straw hat. I ordered this dress from Sézane and I know I’ll get a ton of use out of it this season — since I can dress it up or down. 

I’ve been using the Gentle Basics facial cleanser both day and night and it leaves your skin clean without that tight dry feeling that many cleansers do. The wipes are ideal for hot and muggy summer days and the night cream is a real hydrating treat for your skin.
