‘Tis the season for merry making!! Today I’m partnering with ALDI to show a festive and fun hot cocoa and mimosa bar that you can put together for the holiday season! You know I’m a big fan of the ALDI Finds aisle – where you can find everything you need for the holidays for a limited time! There’s nothing a busy mom likes more than a one-stop-shop this time of year!
The options for a hot cocoa sweet board are overwhelming! I stuck to simple treats that would lend themselves to grazing around the tree and reading holiday books with my girlies while sipping our drinks. The Specially Selected Caramel Stroopwafels are so decadent and my husband and I have eaten nearly all of the Moser Roth Chocolate Truffles already, whoops.
I put together a tray with a few mix-ins for hot cocoa and also made a batch of ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ hot cocoa that is such a delicious twist on the classic drink! I’ve shared the recipe below, it uses Specially Selected Plum Fruit Spread (which by the way is great with cheese, too)! Piper loved dipping cookies into her cocoa (the Specially Selected Continental Cookie Assortment has everything you need for entertaining).
For the grown-ups enjoyment I also put together a mimosa bar complete with apple cider, bubbly and sugared cranberries. Simple & festive…just what I like!
The ALDI Finds aisle is a great place to look for gifts, too! I grabbed this ALDI-exclusive Bendon Board Book and Squishmallow set that the girls were SO excited about. What is it with these stuffies?!
Read on for the recipes for both the Sugar Plum Fairy hot cocoa and sugared cranberries to use this holiday season!
Sugar Plum Fairy Hot Cocoa
Serves 2
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook time: 3 minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup Milk of Choice
¼ Specially Selected Plum Fruit Spread
2tbs Baker’s Corner All-Purpose 100% Baking cocoa powder
Directions:
Over low heat whisk together milk, cocoa powder and fruit spread until combined and warm. Serve in a mug and top with whipped cream & sprinkles! We love to dip the Specially Selected Caramel Stroopwafels in the hot cocoa (or morning coffee) for an extra special treat!
Sugared Cranberries:
Servings: 5
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 1-2 hours
Cranberries
Equal parts sugar & water
Directions:
Combine sugar and water over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Roll the cranberries in the simple syrup you’ve made and lay them out on a piece of wax or parchment paper. Let them sit for at least an hour so they become tacky. The longer you can wait, the better. Roll them in sugar and use as a festive garnish for your holiday drinks. I like to keep a stash in the freezer for impressive last minute entertaining!
Side note:Though this post is about mimosas & hot cocoa I would be doing you an injustice to not let you know to visit the Charcuterie section at your local ALDI. It’s packed with the BEST & most affordable options for cheese boards this holiday season. I stocked up and my friends have all been heading to ALDI to purchase their own stash!
