I had a hard time finding maternity shorts that didn’t look frumpy, sag or scream “mom shorts!”. I tried on a few pairs and ultimately ended up with 2 from Target, one denim and these white shorts which are long enough to get away with wearing to a meeting — in my line of work! This is my second look from my collaboration with Target x The Bump.com — you can see my first maternity outfit here and meet the other bloggers participating in this maternity style challenge here.

Here are a few tips for styling maternity shorts that I’ve discovered the past few months:
- Look for styles that most represent the non-maternity shorts in your closet. At first I was trying on khaki shorts, colored shorts, cuffed options and they just didn’t look like “me”. I found a great pair of denim maternity shorts that felt like my style and so did this pair of classic white maternity shorts.
- I’ve found that over the belly band shorts work way better than the under the belly style. The band may add an extra ‘layer’ on hot days but they hold the shorts up and are much more comfortable in my opinion.
- Opt for longer tanks, tees & long sleeve tops that cover the top of your shorts (kind of obvious, but hey!) — this has been a challenge for me. I stick with loose, flowy, long tanks and add structure with a blazer or cardigan if I want to look more pulled together.
*Thanks to Target for providing clothing for this post!
Great outfit! I just bought those same white maternity shorts from Target and I’m loving them!
Thank you! They are the best, right!? xo
