InstaMOMS We Love: Liz Adams

I’m so excited to kick off our new IntsaMOMS We Love series today with one of my favorites — Liz Adams! Liz is one of those moms that keeps things REAL on Instagram, she’s super relatable and I’m pretty sure everyone will agree with me in saying you feel like she’s your best friend next door. Plus she has great style and the cutest little fam. You can follow Liz on Instagram here and her newly designed site, Hello Adams Family here!

My balance is 75% motherhood and 25% work so when I go to sleep knowing that I gave more of myself to my kids then I’m happy.

What’s the best part of sharing your motherhood experience online?

Realizing that I have the most amazing support group at my fingertips! I truly feel so lucky to have so many supermoms following me who are an engaged part of my community! They are the most comforting, badass, hard working, loyal and proud mamas ever

.….And the hardest?

Opening yourself up to criticism. I pride myself in sharing the good and the bad and sometimes something that feels so small to me is huge to someone else. It’s a reality check that hm, maybe I don’t have it all figured out! But that’s ok.

What’s the first thing you do every morning?

Get Jack out of bed (our earlier riser), go downstairs, turn on the coffee maker, make him a bottle, change his diaper and then make myself a cup of coffee.

What do your kids hate to eat?

Broccoli and hard boiled eggs!

What do they LIKE ?

Pasta with red sauce, apples with almond butter, cinnamon toast, turkey sausage, oranges and peanut butter bananas.

What’s your favorite dinner to make for the family?

Probably my turkey meatballs (make a bunch and eat all week!) and pasta for the boys and roasted veggies for Dave and I!

What’s in your glass at 5pm?

Either a beer (pilsner/lager!), rosé in the summer or cabernet in the winter with a side of a big glass of water.

What do you during nap time on an average day?

Oy – laundry, shower, emails, clean and sometimes try to take a 10 minute cat nap.

Best mom hack to save time, energy, money or sanity?

Lately I’ve been putting on a playlist when my kids go down for a nap and setting a timer for 30 minutes. In those 30 minutes I have to accomplish all of the mundane tasks that I’ve been putting off without looking at my phone/getting distracted. I find if I do this as soon as I have a break, I am so much more productive during that time frame! Whether it is prepping dinner, folding laundry, cleaning up the house – anything. Really focusing on the stuff that gets shoved to the side makes my mind more clear and ultimately saves my sanity, energy and time!

Any cool toys you’ve discovered that your kids love???

Lately we are loving everything from Tender Leaf Toys! The cutest little pieces that my kids actually enjoy playing TOGETHER.

What is your MOM UNIFORM?!

I feel like this post is a great example! Otherwise Lululemon Align leggings, a sweatshirt and Nike’s.

What’s one thing you wish you could tell yourself as a brand new mom?

Savor it all. I wrote a letter to myself when my son Charlie was 1.5 years old and it still resonates with me.

What does balance mean to you?

I think going to sleep at night and feeling like I was a good, present mom. My priorities have changed so much in the past three years and I feel so fortunate that I get to work from home and be a mom to my boys. But the work that used to consume me is just work now. Although it provides for my entire family and I work HARD for it, balancing my job isn’t as much of a priority to me as being a present mother. If my to-do list carries over to the next day, I’m okay with it if it means I did a puzzle with Charlie or let Jack fall asleep on me for an hour. My balance is 75% motherhood and 25% work so when I go to sleep knowing that I gave more of myself to my kids then I’m happy. *this probably sounds terrible in terms of my job but it’s true!
