Do you have any tips, tricks or advice that helped get you through your pregnancy?

Don’t take on too much, especially toward the end. I would only schedule one meeting or commitment each day. Make sure you’re scheduling time to eat and drink plenty of water and have easy access to the restroom. Also, wear flat supportive shoes to prevent chronic back pain. I highly suggest putting the heels away the entire pregnancy if you can ;)

What were your favorite products to use while pregnant?

I loved Mambino Organics belly butter! I also used coconut oil pretty much every day. My skin got very dry when I was pregnant and I had to constantly moisturize. I also lived in my Paige Denim Jeans from Pea in a pod.

What websites, blogs, books or apps do you like to read/use about motherhood or kid/baby?

I love the site Lucie’s List, it’s a great blog for new moms!  What To Expect When You’re Expecting has a lot of great information for soon to be moms. It definitely helps you understand the changes that are going on in your body. The go-to book that I read after having both kids was the Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano – so great to get your baby on a schedule. It helps both mama and baby to be getting more sleep and get into a routine. As for apps, I love “The Baby Center: My Pregnancy” because it helps track weekly pregnancy milestones. I also used Baby Connect after both babies were born to track feeds, diaper changes, etc.  I swear by my white noise app because it mimics the sound that babies hear in the womb. This is great when I need my baby to go to sleep and stay asleep! This was most helpful when I needed to get my babies on a sleep schedule.

Favorite places to shop for kid & baby?

For clothes, I love Old Navy and Gap Kids because their apps make it easy for busy moms. I can easily order online, get it shipped directly to me and everything is always super easy to return. I also love Amazon because I can find everything I need for my little ones.

How do you find balance in your day now that you’re a mom?

It’s definitely not easy, but I’m lucky enough to have a great support system between my hands-on husband and amazing nanny. It’s key to remember that you can’t do it all ( even though we moms always try!) I also try my hardest to separate my home and work life. When I am home, I try to be as fully present as possible. It’s helpful that I have a great staff at the office that I can rely on.

What aspect of motherhood made you most nervous?

The hardest part of being a mom for me is the possibility of my kids getting sick and suffering. It’s especially stressful when they get fevers and I am worrying about how long it will last since I’m not one to use medications.  I’m always looking for natural remedies to help them feel better.

How has being a mom changed your personal style and beauty routine?

I’ve definitely just kept things more simple. My secret weapon is a great hat for those days I can’t wash my hair. I also love staple fashion pieces so I can just quickly throw something on without putting a lot of thought into it! Also, I love a bright matte lip…it just makes an outfit complete!

How do you treat yourself and relax?

Honestly, a five minute drive to myself feels like a vacation. I also love going for a quick 30 minute mani or pedi. It’s a great way for me to take a break without feeling like I’m gone for too long!

What’s the best piece of advice you can think of for a new mother?

Be 100% present wherever you are, if you’re at work, be at work. If you’re home, be at home. The first few months are the hardest and they also go by the fastest, so don’t let your fears, anxieties, and emotions get in the way because that will transfer to your baby. Also, don’t feel bad about being apprehensive when people want to hold and visit your newborn- it’s okay to say no. Don’t feel obligated to get together, or have people come to the hospital right after the baby is born. That is YOUR time…just follow your mama bear instincts to protect your baby. And have hand sanitizer around at all times ;)
