I’m excited to share the first rooms in our new house that are just about ready for their debut! There are a few things left to do — like paint the walls and base boards and I still have a bit of work to do on the dining area but they were featured on Glitter Guide last week.
We have an open floor plan upstairs so the living and dining room are essentially one large space next to the kitchen. It was a big challenge to decorate and I think I’m going to get a long dining table instead of the round one we have now to help with some of the wasted space between the two rooms.
We have our old sectional couch with I do think is way too big for the space but works for now. My biggest challenge was finding a rug to tie the different colors in my space together. Lulu & Georgia sent me what is now my favorite rug ever — the Sauri in Iris. The colors are perfect and it works so great in this space! It’s also so durable and — my biggest compliment is that it stays in place. This rug hasn’t moved an inch (we haven’t got a rug pad yet!) since we put it down. It’s held up so well with Piper’s active lifestyle and Sullivan’s too….
I have a pillow hoarding problem but love these new additions — Caitlin Wilson Textiles new black floral print fits my style so perfectly (actually moved them into my bedroom after this shoot) and I love how the mix with Danielle Oakey’s indigo covers.
Minted came to the rescue literally days before I was scheduled to shoot the space when I received an email about a new service they offer. I’m horrible at hanging gallery walls and figuring out where to hang art in general, but Minted now offers consulting services! You simply upload photos of your home, including any pieces of art you already own that you want to include and they send a mock-up of your space decorated beautifully with their art prints. It was a serious life saver and I can’t thank them enough for helping create this GORGEOUS gallery wall that “hides” our TV and fills up space on our giant blank wall! This floral print (Shining Statement) is by far my favorite piece.
We got this Sven chair by Article right when we moved into our space. It’s seriously so comfortable and I love the texture and warmth the buttery leather adds to the room. I know it will look better with a different couch….so whenever we replace this giant sectional I know the living room will come together a little better.
