Last weekend we had Piper’s 2nd birthday party in our backyard and it was one of my favorite days ever. I’ve never seen Piper so excited or happy, she had a beaming smile on her face the entire time! I took a gamble with having her party outside, but our yard is just so perfect for entertaining and luckily it wasn’t too hot. We decided to have a brunch from 10-12 before Piper’s nap // when she’s guaranteed to be in a good mood! It turned out to be the perfect morning! I stressed about what kind of theme to have this year –and finally it dawned on me that Piper loves to be outside more than anything — has a strong admiration for bunnies, butterflies and flowers so a garden party it was!
For decorations I kept it relatively simple. I purchased these lanterns and butterflies on Amazon and used hot glue to attach them. I also got these adorable Liberty print lanterns. I hung them on the trees with twine and plan to hang a few in Piper’s playroom! I hung this birthday banner on the food table and scattered vases of baby’s breath around.
I went with a Liberty print motif throughout on the adorable paper goods and Piper’s Mabo dress.
I set up a few stations throughout the yard for the kids to enjoy – and I’m so glad I did this! Piper also got a slide and sandbox from her grandparent’s that we had out! I also set out a large quilt for the babies to play on.
The menu:
We had a big dispenser of grapefruit water, mimosas with OJ and Grapefruit juice, sparkling water and juice boxes to drink. Piper loved her first ever juice box! I also made a batch of peach smoothies for the kiddos!
I didn’t manage to get any photos of the food but here’s what we served:
-Mini pancakes (frozen from Trader Joe’s) in stacks with food picks to hold them together. I picked up these bird toothpicks on Etsy. The kids loved these!
-Strawberries + blueberries in little cups (I also had yogurt + granola but none of the kids ate it)
-Croissants (again from Trader Joe’s — the best, freshest tasting frozen croissants you’ll try!)
-2 Quiches
-Lady bug crackers
-Bunny cookies
-Birthday cake (I made a vanilla cake and used whipped cream instead of frosting with a layer of strawberries + jam)
I set Piper’s little picnic table for her friends, it was pretty cute! I ordered these plates + napkins + cups. I just love this floral print so much!
I filled Piper’s water table (see how to make your own here) with dirt and hid a bunch of bugs and snakes. It was a hit!
The bubble station was also really fun for the kids. I bought the various bubble wands at The Dollar Store, Amazon + A.C. Moore. One tip – find Miracle Bubbles, they work the best!
For goody bags (again I forgot to snap a picture) the older kids got a tiny terracotta pot, packet of seeds, funny bug toy and a pack of strawberry Pocky. The babies got pouches and a Melissa & Doug bunny stuffed animal!
