Today I’m excited to launch a fun summer travel series here on Style Within Reach. I love to travel, and often spend hours obsessing online to plan my trip, I hate getting stuck wasting money in tourist traps, or not going to the favorite local dining destination (pst – if you have any recommendations for Bar Harbor or Nantucket – send em my way!) so I do my research. I thought it would be fun to have some of my favorite bloggers share a little bit about their local city which could easily be a travel destination for many of us.
Alicia from Cheetah is the New Black is kicking off the series. If you don’t know, Alicia moved from one of my favorite cities, San Francisco to upstate New York last year with her husband while he finished up grad school. Now the happy couple is moving to my former home, NYC and I couldn’t be more excited for them! I have fond memories of visiting the Finger Lakes & Ithaca as a child and asked Alicia to share a little bit about the area she got to know this year. Thanks Alicia !

Why You Love It: I love the greenery! The rolling hills and lakes make for a gorgeous setting.
5 Places to See, Eat or Go: 1) The Cornell Campus for the beautiful architecture and Ivy League feel. 2) Wine Tasting in the Finger Lakes (Hermann J. Weiner Vineyard is my personal favorite) 3) Eats: Hazelnut Kitchen in Trumansburg, Stonecat (great lunch spot while wine tasting), Mercato (Italian) or Viva (Mexican) for dinner in the Commons, The Heights and Maxie’s Supper Club are all personal favorites 4) Taughannock Falls (pack a picnic). 5) Ithaca Farmers Market.

Locals Only Tip: If taking a tour of the Cornell Campus be sure to go inside the Cornell Law School library, the A.D. White “Harry Potter” Library, the War Memorial and the Human Ecology Building (all of my personal favorites on campus).
