If you haven’t heard smoothie bowls are currently all the rage… I finally decided to give it a whirl last week. After making acai bowls for a while I’ve pretty much decided they are the same thing, but you don’t have to make them with acai fruit. The concept is to make your smoothie a little thicker so you can use a spoon to eat it and top it with fruit, granola, seeds, coconut etc. Since I had some acai in the freezer and they are a ‘super food ‘ and all I used them in this recipe along with mango and banana! I use unsweetened almond milk in this recipe but you can use any milk of your choice, or even coconut water – you really can’t go wrong which is the beauty of smoothie bowls!
Acai Mango Smoothie Bowl
1 pack of frozen acai fruit (I use this kind)
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 banana
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
Fruit, seeds & unsweetened coconut to top*
- Run the frozen acai pack under water for a few minutes until you can easily break up the fruit.
- Put acai, mango, banana and almond milk in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into bowl and add toppings!
*I use a mix of chia, flax, hemp seeds from Trader Joe’s!
