Today I’m excited to share an easy 4th of July picnic menu that I created. I go on picnics far less than I’d like to — but when I do they are always easy and thrown together last minute. Quick sandwiches, chips, fruit are my go-tos for meals and for lighter snack options I always love a good cheese plate + crackers. Here I am making a grown up ham + cheese sandwich and a less messy version of fruit salad served on skewers!
FONTINA, PROSCIUTTO & BASIL BAGUETTE SANDWICHES
4 thin slices of fontina cheese
8 slices of prosciutto
4 pieces of fresh basil
Honey mustard
Spread a layer of honey mustard on each baguette and top with fontina, prosciutto and a basil leaf. Wrap in a cute piece of paper and tie with twine.
MELON, MOZZARELLA + BLACKBERRY SKEWERS
Cantaloupe slices cubed
Blackberries
Mint leaves
Mozzarella balls
Short kabob skewers
Skewer a piece of melon followed by mint, cheese and finish with a blackberry. Be careful to not push the blackberries too far up the skewer because they are very delicate.
SPIKED LEMONADE
I’ll be sharing the recipe for this refreshing cocktail later this week so be sure to check back!
MIXED BERRY HAND PIES
I picked up these store-bought pies at Trader Joes — though if I had more time I would have liked to try this recipe! Taking pre-made food out of the package and adding a few garnishes is an easy way to dress up the presentation.
These photos were all taken during my shoot for Glitter Guide. You can check out the full picnic feature here with many additional images. I’ll be sharing the step by step DIY projects I created for the shoot later this week!
