I’m excited to share more style posts here on The Mama Notes — about pieces in my wardrobe that I get a lot of wear out of. That I wear for both motherhood and meetings. First up– the latest trend in denim… mom jeans. How could I not get on this bandwagon? I’m a fan of being on-trend and love when one component of an outfit can easily elevate your style from girl next door to super fashion forward. The mom jean does just that. On my recent trip to NYC every girl was wearing this style denim. I know it may seem like it doesn’t work for every body type but I find they are actually slimming – accentuating your waist (instead of hips) and making your legs look longer. So, here are a few ways I’ve been styling my mom jeans!
I have to thank my friend Christina of Proper Hunt for snapping these photos!!
LOOK ONE: TUCKED IN BLOUSE
Uniqlo coat (on sale) // Zara shoes // Reformation jeans // Related Apparel top (on sale)// J.Crew sunglasses (on sale)
Easiest look: a tissue thin blouse which easily tucks in. To me, this look is the most flattering on my body type. I also love how it looks layered under a thin coat or blazer. I picked up this tan Uniqlo coat in NYC for my trip to Italy next month. I love the color and how versatile it is (and it’s on super sale)!
LOOK 2: CHUNKY SWEATER
It’s too cold to not cozy up in a sweater most days of the week – and I love how these jeans work for a more casual look with sneakers…. or dress up the sweater with heels.
Gap sweater (on sale) // Lo & Sons bag // Hush Puppies sneakers // J.Crew heels
LOOK 3: THIN TEE + BLAZER
If you’re a little apprehensive about trying mom jeans — give this look a shot. I find wearing a blazer covers the top portion of the pants and really highlights your waist line. Tucking in a thin top will accentuate it even more!
