My Pregnancy Skincare & Beauty Routine

This pregnancy has recked havoc on my skin. My skin is generally pretty easy to maintain, but hormones definitely impact it in a big way. I dealt with adult acne when I was weaning Flora last year. I finally got that under control and had about a year without being pregnant or nursing to get things back to normal.

….And here we are! I’ve been having horrible, cystic acne breakouts the last 2 months. But, I’ll be dedicating another post to pregnancy acne once I get a better handle on what what is working for my skin. Today I’m going to share an overview of all of the cleaner beauty products I started using as soon as I found out I was pregnant.

In general I stopped using my retinol products and some of my acids and have tried to switch to cleaner products. I’m still using a glycolic & lactic acids, which my OB cleared.

BeautyCounter Cleansing Balm: LOVE this. I typically save when it comes to face wash and feel like it’s a better use of money to invest in serums and moisturizers that stay on your skin for hours – but I’m happy I got this. It’s very gentle and hydrating and works great at removing makeup.

La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser: I’ve been using this for a year. It’s been very hard for me to find a face wash that leaves my skin feeling hydrated and not stripped – this one is perfect. Removes makeup, hydrates and leaves your skin supple.

OleHenrikson Glow2OH Toner: I used this for a bit before I was pregnant and have been using it every other night now that I am pregnant to keep a handle on my anti-aging skincare routine.

Mun Aknari Serum: One of my all-time favorite nursing & pregnancy safe serums, I love this product and how hydrating it is! It gives you a glow in the morning and works wonders on my skin. I’ve gone through at least 3 bottles of this serum over the years!

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream Moisturizer: Almost the entire Drunk Elephant skincare line is pregnancy safe (aside from 2 products) and since pregnancy (and nursing) tends to dehydrate my skin I thought this winter I’d try this moisturizer that has a cult following. I LOVE IT! My skin hasn’t been dry at all yet this winter! I use it at night.

Drunk Elephant Night Bright Resurfacing Duo: I’m experimenting with this duo and really liking them so far, I use the glycolic acid on the nights I don’t use the toner above. I’ll probably buy the full size once I run out of this smaller trial tube. I like the oil but I can’t tell that it’s doing anything substantial for my skin at the moment.

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid: This is another “pregnancy safe” acid that is supposed to help with acne. I started using this about 9 months ago and feel like up until this point it was pretty good at keeping acne at bay!

Juice Beauty Pregnancy Peel: I first used this when I was pregnant with Piper! It’s one of my very favorite masks and really makes your skin GLOW! I do it once a week. It rivals Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Peel which I’m asking for Valentine’s Day :)

Belli Spot Treatment: I’ve been using this on my pregnancy acne – I would say it’s definietly helping to minimize the duration and size of breakouts.
