Halloween seems like an overwhelmingly hard time for a food allergy parents. I feel like this will be our last year that Flora’s not totally aware of what’s going on but next year it’s going to be a lot more difficult. We purchased a teal pumpkin at Target last year and plan to have a stash of allergen free treats for kids who may have food allergies -along with non-food items. Placing the teal pumpkin on our porch is a sign that you have non-food items for trick o’ treaters! I encourage you to do the same :)
This website is a great resource with helpful tips on handling Halloween candy for food allergy parents.
Target also has an entire section on their website dedicated to allergen-free Halloween candy (though check labels carefully as I found some candy in this section containing milk).
Here are some pretty accessible treat ideas (if not at your local Target or grocery store they are on Amazon). They are all free of the top 8 allergens.

It’s also nice to have non-edible Halloween treats on hand – like mini jars of slime,or stamps and stickers.
