Read, Craft, Snack- The Sound of My Heart

As you’ve likely heard me mention before, I am an Usborne book consultant. Brooke who works on my team thought it’d be fun to start a new blog series where we highlight some of our favorite titles and give you a fun corresponding snack and craft idea to really elevate story time. It’s just an extra fun way to bring the stories to life, and in the process deepening a love for books in your littles.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought this adorable book, The Sound of My Heart, was the perfect book to highlight this week.

Here’s an overview of what this sweet story is about:

Baby bunny tries to sleep through a storm but there are so many strange noises outside! Mama reassuringly explains each sound, introducing other animals along the way, and ending with the gentle PIT-A-PAT – the song of Mama’s ever-loving heart.

-Usborne Books & More

To go along with this story, we made the Tissue Paper Hearts from The Magic Playbook.

For the snack we made a fun Bunny Trail Mix. I didn’t measure anything, but just made a small bowl of mix comprised of:

  • Jet-Puffed Strawberry Heart Marshmallows
  • Annie’s Organic Neapolitan Bunny Grahams
  • Cupid’s Mix M&M’s
  • Yogurt Raisins

I’m confident your littles will love this story as much as we do! You can also check out the Valentine’s Day Usborne Book Suggestions for other titles that would make great gifts for Valentine’s Day.
