The ‘Toy Time Out Box’

Apr

After being stuck inside for over a month and struggling to get my girls to clean up we started threatening to take away any toys left out. I got out a cardboard box and walked around with it and it really motivated them to pick up! A reader told me they call this box “time out” in their house and knew I had to do the same!! When we were crafting the other day I painted a box and it now sits in our kitchen. Any toys left out stay in the box for at least 24 hours, even beloved stuffed animals, books or clothes!

Some other tips to get your kids to clean up:

+Set a timer
+Make it a race
+Play ‘eye spy’ and have them pick up certain items
+Make a clean up playlist
+Have a routine of when you clean up

Such a great idea!! I am going to make one for my daughter because, to be honest, I was feeling guilty about letting her use the iPad.

sorry my comment got cut off lol. But I would end up cleaning and she would just sit on her ipad. SO we are going to give this a go.
