These egg-free, dairy-free turkey meatballs are the perfect finger food for young eaters! Flora is a huge fan at 12 months and gobbles them up. They are moist, full of protein and veggies and they freeze well making them great for last-minute meals!
How to make them
Making these turkey meatballs is really easy – you just combine ground turkey, grated veggies and grains and spices of your choice. You can get creative with the flavor profiles and switch things up for your baby! This recipe tends to come out quite wet – it’s a little messy to assemble the balls but it’s worth it for the tasty meatballs that aren’t the least bit dry. I chop these up into little bites for Flora to eat with her fingers, but these would be great for BLW, too.
Ingredients
1 cup ground turkey
1/2 cup grated vegetables (I like zucchini, carrot + onion – apple is good, too)
2 tbs baby oatmeal – I use this because it’s easy, Flora tolerates it and adds iron. Breadcrumbs would work as would quinoa
Spices – I used 1tbs of cumin but feel free to use whatever flavors your baby has tried and likes
Directions
Mix together the ingredients with your hands, roll into small balls and bake on a greased baking dish at 350 for 30 minutes or until meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
So easy! Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Hi! Thanks for posting this. My daughter had eczema for most of her life (she just turned 3) and we are trying a non-dairy diet to see if it helps. Do you think I could make this ahead of time and freeze?
