Crepe Paper Streamers Cutting Wall

Both of my toddlers (ages 2 and 4.5) are really into using scissors and cutting right now, the younger one more so because it’s a newer skill she’s developed. I’ve been running out of creative ideas for practicing but came up with this a few weeks ago and it was a big it!

I will say this definitely worked better for my older daughter because you need sharper scissors with a metal blade to easily cut the crepe paper. We like these scissors. It took her a while to work on cutting all of the pieces, practicing that hand eye coordination flexing those fine motor skills.

We let Flora just tear off pieces of the streamers which is actually a great fine motor activity to practicing grasping since her little plastic blade scissors don’t work to cut the crepe paper.

Though she’s not using them in this photo, we found our favorite toddler scissors with a metal blade to work best for cutting the crepe paper streamers.
