Hot Cocoa Shop Sensory Play

My girls had sooo much fun with their play ice cream shop that I had to make a holiday version for them!! This pretend hot cocoa shop could not be easier and we’ve had so much fun with it the last few weeks. While the girls love to set up ‘shop’ they also use the supplies in their play kitchen and have fun making hot cocoa for their animals & baby friends, too :) The best part is all the of supplies easily fit into an activity box (see the rest of our holiday activity box ideas here) and you most likely already have the supplies on hand!

Supplies:
Brown paper (re-use a paper grocery store bag, packaging from shipping boxes or brown construction paper)
Cotton balls, cut in half or quarters
Sequins (or sparkly ball filler) optional!
We also used these felt candy canes
Child size mugs or tea cups

Process:
Rip the brown paper into small pieces and bunch up into little balls. The smaller in size, the more opportunity you’ll give your kids to scoop or spoon them into a mug!

I like to separate the ‘chocolate’ and ‘marshmallows’ into two separate containers and set up a little stand for the girls with an end table. They have so much fun serving up hot cocoa and I hope your kids enjoy it, too!!
