Flora’s 1st Birthday Party

Dec

Over the weekend we had our family and a few close friends over for brunch to celebrate Flora’s 1st birthday. After putting too much pressure on myself the last few parties and the busy holiday season I decided to just go simple. I still can’t believe Flora is going to be 1 next week! I went with a star theme for our happy little baby, who was hesitant about the cake at first but eventually liked it! I made an egg, dairy, nut-free “Wacky Cake” !

PS- Piper’s 1st Circus Party & 2nd Garden Party & 3rd Mermaid Party

The star balloons were from Party City. I debated ordering these on Etsy but realized Party City had practically the same thing. I checked the stock online of the colors I wanted and then went in and placed an order to pick up the day before the party. I suggest doing this ahead of time because they were all out of several colors I wanted!

I picked up the party hats + napkins in Paris and carried them on 2 flights in my carry on. I’m sure they are on Amazon but I can’t bring myself to look.

I printed off photos from Flora’s first year at Walgreens (so cheap & easy) in squares and first made them all black & white on my phone. I just tacked up two pieces of twine and picked up pink clothes pins to attach them. I plan to use this string for Christmas cards now!

The menu was very simple. Mini pancakes, donut holes, brown sugar glazed bacon, pimento cheese sandwiches, fruit and cranberry mimosas. I also had coffee + hot chocolate.

I got these star picks on Amazon here and they are also what I used on the cake.

Flora’s dress is from Gymboree + her crown is Oeuf.

I just used brown paper bags + black ribbon for the treat bags for Piper’s friends and cut a few stars from the garland.

This was one of my favorite last minute touches and I don’t want to take it down!
